some BMW F-series 1er 2er and 3er early models have external Bluetooth modules, so when you upgrade your multimedia to ID4 or ID5 system. you need to disconnect your old Bluetooth, because evo system has Bluetooth module integrated to the head unit. this mean you need to connect microphone wires directly from the QUADLOCK connector. this is not so hard to do, you just need 3 wire microphone cable ,- mic +, mic - and Shield. some cheaper cables even not have shield, enough is to connect two wires mic+ and mic-
with your new evo system you can connect your phone to the car Bluetooth, you can call and receive calls, but the problem is that you can hear your opponent but your opponent cannot hear you. that's because your car microphone is till connected to the old Bluetooth module. you need to disconnect microphone cable from old Bluetooth module directly to your EVO system quad-lock connector.
the microphone is located in the roof under the steering wheel, please check sample photo:
the microphone is from 3 wires. mic+ mic- and shield. some microphone manufacturers only have mic+ and mic- no shield. there look at the photo below.
Original BMW microphone has 3rd wire its SHIELD. ( usually wire us Silver collor)
the colors of microphone wires may be different, but its not so important, just know that 1 wire is MIC+, other Wire is MIC-,
even if you mix minus with plus, noting wrong will happen, just microphone will not work.
as you see in the photos, one microphone cable has WHITE BLACK BLUE wires other,- WHITE GREEN SILVER wires.
does not matter what wire color, just know that 1 wire is MIC+, other wire is MIC- and Third Wire is SHIELD.
if you look at the quad-lock connector very close and carefully, you will notice each pin has its number, look at the photo below:
